The first episode, "Curse of the Scribbled Panda," has a silly plot,
much like the manga version, and perhaps the most redundant fight
you'll ever see, yet turned out not so bad. A few cursed painted monsters
have been brought to life, and it falls on -surprise- Ranma to take
down the leader, which happens to be a cute, yet poorly drawn, female
panda. This episode didn't bore me, it just didn't really stand out
in any way.
The second episode, "The Legend of the Lucky Panda," is about Genma
somehow finding his way into an alternate universe, finding dopplegangers
for Ranma, Akane and Kuno in Gutaro, Kanna, and Hytoma. In this story
Genma goes from lucky charm, to god, to animal sacrifice an all of
twenty minutes. And surprisingly, Genma not only saves the day, but
he brings Ranma and Akane together. Maybe the only time Genma could
EVER be considered "heroic." Like "Curse of the Scribbled Panda,"
this wasn't the greatest story ever, but worth watching for sure.
The last episode (Mystery of the Marauding Octopus Pot") is kind of
an old bit... once you watch it you'll see why. Food and valuables
go missing in a Japanese town, and Genma, Soun, and Ranma must try
again to stop the evil midget Happosai, who has a new attack. Happosai
does use a new attack (well its actually an improvement on an old
one) in store for them. P.S. This is the second time I've heard the
word "mack-daddy" used in a Ranma episode. If I have to hear it again,
I'll, I'll... do nothing. But I'll still be unhappy. Despite this,
'Pandamonium" just struck me as a little average. Three worth-watching
stories, but nothing great. This disc is worth your money, but just
barely.
