Ranma ½
Random Rhapsody:
Ukyo's Secret Sauce

The first two episodes in this disc, "Ukyo's Secret Sauce," are VERY faithful to the manga, which is refreshing. Ukyo's special sauce, aged since her childhood, turns out bad, and Ukyo goes to Ranma for support. A number of misunderstandings ensue, and Ranma and Akane are forced to fake being a married couple to get Ukyo off their backs. I can't say it was my favorite season six episode, but it was right up there. And watching Ranma and Akane try to act like a married couple is as priceless as it was in the manga, maybe even more so. I give this high ratings because it reminds me of a season one episode, where I knew exactly what was going to happen in every scene, because I had read the manga. For once, they didn't fool with the story, and that is a good thing.

The last episode, ("A Teenage Ghost Story") is okay, but just not the greatest. Furinkan is haunted by a teenaged ghost, and Ranma, Kuno, and Akane have to help her find her "lost treasure". Some nice old-fashoned slapstick humor, but the reason I liked this one is because I got to listen to some of Toramasa's old war stories, which are so far-fetched and corny they are hilarious. I liked the disc a lot. It's above-average, for any season.

Where "Ukyo's Secret Sauce" ranks in season six:

1. The Demon from Jusenkyo
2. Wacky Winter Wonderland
3. For the Love of Akane
4. Ukyo's Secret Sauce
5. Pandamonium
6. Who Do? Voodoo
7. Watermelon Beach
8. The Way We're Not
