Like Rinne, Ageha is a shinigami who is responsible for ferrying lost souls into the afterlife. Unlike Rinne, she is incredibly wealthy and throws her money away with little thought. Initially she is prickly and impatient with Rinne, who she views as a rival.
After Rinne agrees to help her find her missing sister, she begins to warm to him, eventually developing quite a considerable crush on him. This is complicated by the fact that her sister has eloped with intentions to marry Sabato, Rinne's father who is quite the unscrupulous character and sworn enemy to all upstanding shinigami. Ageha doubts Rinne's sincerity, but eventually he wins her over as he attempts to aid her in rescuing her sister from his father.
Soon Ageha's friendliness towards Rinne complicates the unstated attraction Sakura and Rinne have for one another. Sakura silently shows her disinterest in Rinne due to his percieved relationship with Ageha, yet Ageha is hesitant to proceed due to her belief that Rinne has feelings for Sakura.
Ageha's past has often returned to bite her. She has a strained relationship with her Black Cat by Contract, Oboro, who she left buried under a boulder for a year. Despite their difficulties working together, Ageha refuses to release him from his contract simply out of spite. Additionally Ageha has a continued rivalry with Renge, whom she attended elementary school with. Flighty Ageha and the serious-minded Renge mix like oil and water and even as teenagers they struggle to get along.
The Meaning Behind the Name - 鳳
Ageha's name is written with a single kanji, which commonly refers to a large, mythical bird similar to (though not the same as) a phoenix. It can also be read as "Ootori" or literally "large bird". The name "ageha" when written with different kanji can also mean "swallowtail butterfly".
