Mariko Konjo

Mariko Konjo Mariko Konjo from Seisyun High School is the captain of the cheerleading team. After she interferes in a Furinkan High volleyball match that Akane is in, Ranma decides to try and take revenge for her. At one point, Mariko recieves a bump on her head, and Tatewaki Kuno puts a bandaid on her head. From this point on she is madly in love with Upperclassman Kuno, and decides to have a Martial Arts Cheerleading contest with Kuno's beloved Pigtailed Girl to see who would win the heart of Kuno.

As it turns out, Martial Arts Cheerleading doesn't only involve interfering to help your team win, but also involves building your team up to the point where they feel invincible. Mariko is quite good at this, but Ranma has trouble confessing his "love" for Kuno.

Mariko often spells things out in Romanji characters such as M-A-R-I-K-O, much like your average cheerleader would do in a cheer.

Her fighting style is very similar to Kodachi's in that she uses cheerleading tools in much the same way that Kodachi uses gymnastic tools in her martial arts competitions.
