Manga Takahashi Rumiko Takahashi in the 1980s
On October 10, 1957 one of the most significant creators in Japan was brought into this world in Niigata, Japan. Rumiko Takahashi had a normal childhood, but her interest in manga seemed no more developed than that of most Japanese adolescents, but soon she discovered the work of Ryoichi Ikegami and her life was changed. She studied under Kazuo Koike and soon had almost immediate overnight success after being published in Shonen Sunday while still in college.
