Twin brothers Harley and Dylan Acres have run Rumic World since 1998. They have both been fans of manga and anime since before they knew what Japanese animation actually was, however their formal introduction was through the works of Rumiko Takahashi, specifically Ranma 1/2 when they were 12 years old. Captivated by the humor, slice of life views of the world, families, friendships and rivalries they moved away from the American comic books they were raised on and became full time fans of the growing medium of Japanese comics and animation in the United States.

Their fascination with Takahashi's work coincided with the internet's arrival in their home and the expansion of their small Mississippi hometown to the wider world. Suddenly the obscure world of manga and anime grew exponentially. Seeing the detailed Tomobiki-cho website run by Mason Proulx, the brothers were inspired to create their own websites at Geocities and eventually building the individual sites that would come together to form Rumic World.

Harley Acres is an Art Historian who teaches at Pikes Peak State College and is the Chairman of the Fine Art Department. He speaks fluent Japanese, and attended college at Kansai Gaidai University in Hirakata-shi. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Printmaking and a Master’s Degree in Asian Art History from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Dylan Acres is a Psychology instructor at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and is the Chair of the School of Education and Human Sciences at the Perkinston Campus. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Sam Houston State University.
