Hisui
Hisui is the youngest child of Sango and Miroku. His elder twin sisters Kin'u and Gyokuto both followed in their parents footsteps with Kin'u becoming a Buddhist nun and Gyokuto training to build demon extermination tools. Consequently Hisui found himself unsure of what role he was left to fill in his family. He was taught about poetry and spiritual matters from his father, however he decided not to become a monk after Kin'u became a nun.
Feeling adrift and without a path in life, he watched his uncle, Kohaku, battle against an insect demon. During the battle Hisui was trapped by the creature and Kohaku had recieved a scar across the bridge of his nose as he saved his nephew. From here Hisui decided to become a demon slayer and inherited his mother's boomerang, Hiraikotsu. Hisui states that his family is difficult to deal with and he is thankful for his uncle taking him under his wing. He has had a complicated relationship with his father, Miroku, who has been on an extended training excursion deep in the mountains. Hisui mistakenly believed his father was a coward, having never seen him during his adventuring days with Inuyasha when he had the power of the Wind Tunnel at his disposal.
The Meaning Behind the Name - 翡翠
"Hisui" is actually a noun for the Kingfisher bird. It also refers to a lustrous color similar to the kingfisher's feathers.
