Moroha
Moroha is the quarter-demon child of Kagome Higurashi, the time-lost modern girl and Inuyasha, the half-demon from the feudal era. Moroha was separated from her parents at a young age when Sesshomaru trapped Kagome and Inuyasha in the otherworldly grave of the Great Dog Demon, trapping them with no way to escape. Consequently Moroha was raised without much knowledge of her parents. She was entrusted the Wolf Demon Tribe as an infant and had only scant belongings to remember her parents by- the rouge of her grandmother, Izayoi and a robe of the fire rat like the one worn by her father. Thanks to Izayoi's rouge, Moroha is able to unlock the powers of her grandfather, the Great Dog Demon, though his immense demonic powers are so overwhelming that Moroha can only use them for approximately a minute before she falls asleep, exhausted from the effort.
Growing up among the Wolf Demon Tribe left Towa well trained in physical combat. Despite having demonic blood Moroha was unique in that she also shared her mother's powerful spiritual gifts and was able to fire sacred arrows. This unique inheritance made her particularly dangerous on the field of battle. As she grew her training was entrusted to Yawaragi who pushed Moroha to her limits. Eventually the two had a falling out when Yawaragi sold Moroha to Jyubei the Corpse Dealer in order to raise money to purchase a key that would save her own life.
Having grown up in the wild, Moroha shows little in the ways of human refinement. She is singularly focused on clearing the debt she inherited from Yawaragi and has become a bounty-hunter who returns the decapitated heads of her targets to Jyubei for payment. Growing up in isolation, Moroha was unaware of her cousins Towa and Setsuna until later in her life, though she enjoyed her brief visit to the future where she met her uncle, Sota, and her grandmother and great-grandfather at the Higurashi shrine.
The Meaning Behind the Name - もろは
Moroha, like Towa and Setsuna's names, is written in hiragana rather than kanji. Consequently it is difficult to derive any specific meaning from. However Yawaragi specifically says that Moroha is a "double-edged blade, like her namesake." This is referring to 諸刃 (moroha) which means "double-edged".
