Rion
Rion is the late daughter of Kirinmaru, though she has been reanimated against her will by her grieving father who could not tolerate her passing. She is initially found at Mount Musubi where her spirit remains within a barrier that sustains her in a vague sense of undeath. When Setsuna slices the thread of fate binding her to her father, her soul is able to inhabit an earthen body that gives her a physical form for the first time since her passing 600 years prior.
Rion travels with the half-demon princesses, hoping to find a way to pass away peacefully despite her father, Kirinmaru's, desperate desire to keep her alive. She bestows the Zanseiken to Towa, a sword that neither realize will slowly prepare Towa's body to become a more permanent living vessel for Rion's soul to eventually inhabit. She is a kind soul and Riku is exceedingly loyal to her given her connection with Kirinmaru.
However Rion is ultimatly convinced by Osamu Kirin, the personification of her father's severed right arm, that she must help save the human race by eradicating all demons using the power of the Grim Comet. Ultimately Rion is forced to confront the memory of the half-demon who caused her death, Sakasa, and upon doing so she defeats Osamu Kirin, her misbegotten protector as well. With that, Rion makes peace with her dying father and requests Setsuna to cut the threads of fate that are still holding them to the world of the living. With this act done, Rion passes away peacefully.

Rion's name is written in hiragana making it difficult to discern a meaning from it.
