Tsukumo no Gama

Tsukumo no gama is a powerful frog spirit that has taken possession a lord. The lord's wife relates the story of how shortly after she married her husband he began to act strangely. She explains that her husband collapsed in the garden one day with a fever and he began to undergo a physical transformation. After the lord's illness young girl's across the region began to mysteriously disappear once visiting the lord's estate.

Upon seeing Tsukumo no gama, Myoga recognizes him as a fairly powerful 300-year-old demon. The group realizes too late what has happened to the disappearing maidens from across the possessed lord's realm. Tsukumo no gama has enclosed all the maiden's in frog eggs, and many of them have begun to transform into bizarre human/tadpole creatures.

In battle, Kagome learns that Tsukumo no gama is weak against fire, but in the darkened castle only a few small candles exist. Kagome uses a little ingenuity and concocts a makeshift flame-thrower out of her bottle of hairspray and a candle. Within no time Tsukumo no gama has been exorcised from the lord's body and is quickly slain by Inuyasha.
