Yawaragi
After Inuyasha and Kagome were trapped within the Black Pearl, Moroha was left an orphan. Koga of the Wolf Demon tribe decided to entrust the infant girl to Yawaragi to raise. Moroha relates that her upbringing was a harsh one where Yawaragi tried to raise Moroha to live without the power of her demon rouge that would bestow demonic powers upon the girl.
The reason for this is that while battling against Birds of Paradise demons Moroha used the rouge and went into a fury, badly wounding Yawaragi. When she awoke from her savagery, she did not realize that it was her that gravely wounded Yawaragi. Because of her injuries Yawaragi dons the Armor of the Iron Rats, a powerful protective armor that is cursed to shrink little by little over time until it crushes its wearer to death. Yawaragi seeks to gain the key that will unlock the armor, but the Iron Rats demand a high ransom in order to free her.
As a result of her need for money, Yawaragi seems as if she is unscrupulous in her dealings. Moroha mistakenly believes her mistress would risk her life in order to gain money to gamble with, when in fact Yawaragi is desperately trying to attain enough money to free herself before the armor kills her. Konton eventually acquires the key to free Yawaragi and forces her to battle Moroha who then kills Yawaragi.
The Meaning Behind the Name - 凱風
Yawaragi is written with kanji that can be read as "gaifuu" (southern wind). Yawaragi's attack is "Gaifuu Kaisei" (凱風快晴). This is the name of a famous ukiyo-e print by Hokusai that is often translated as "Fine Wind, Clear Morning". The more literal translation would be "South Wind, Clear Sky". Appropriately Yawaragi's name is written the same way as "south wind" (凱風).
