Shippo, being a fox demon makes use of fox magic. Traditionally foxes are thought of as tricksters and Shippo's techniques reflect this. Among his arsenal of abilities and toys are kitsune bi (fox fire) which Shippo uses as a weak offensive attack against small demons. When Shippo places a leaf on his head he can shape change and create duplicates of himself for limited amounts of time. The young fox can also use his magic in combination with toys to create attacks. The Tsubushi Goma (Smashing Top) is a favorite of Shippo's in which he spins a small top on an opponents head and then uses his illusion magic to make it appear and feel much larger, pinning the opponent to the ground. His Naki Kinoko (Crying Mushrooms) have been used when Shippo has been kidnapped. The mushrooms become animated and wail loudly, alerting his comrades to his location. |
